Where Will I Grow Up Coloring Book

A child from an abusive background who has been removed from their biological family due to neglect or abuse struggles to understand their future. This non-threatening coloring book explains the judge’s role in deciding whether or not a family situation is “safe” and provides helpful alternate scenarios.

Where Will I Grow Up? is a coloring book designed to help children who have been removed from their biological families due to abuse and neglect understand how decisions will be made about where they grow up. By coloring and discussing specific scenarios, a child can have opportunity to think about, without undue fear, future options. Children sometimes cannot evaluate their own experience, and even if there was abuse or neglect present, wonder if they can return to live with biological family members. Often a bad but familiar situation seems more attractive to a child than the unknown. With thoughtful drawings and text, the book also describes the value in possible options of reunification, long-term foster care, and adoption.

Since 1992, Dr. Robinson has worked in a variety counseling positions. She is also a popular author and speaker on topics ranging from childhood development and sexuality, teen issues, family dynamics including caring for elderly relatives, and church resources for families.
