The Magic Formula: Gratitude

/ Home / The Magic Formula: Gratitude

Can’t sleep? Overwhelmed with stress? Feeling depressed? Try gratitude!

What if scientists could give you a single set of words that you could say to completely change your life?  Could literally rewire your brain and make life easier?

You’ve probably already heard that new studies show that being grateful can make an enormous difference in your wellbeing. But taking gratitude a step further, more than just thankful thoughts, can make a measurable difference.

Here are some strategies that have been proven effective in research studies:

  1. Write down what you’re grateful for every day. Researchers say those who keep a gratitude journal sleep better and wake up more refreshed.
  2. Tell somebody you are grateful they are in your life.
  3. Look at yourself in the mirror and say something you did well yesterday.

Want to ramp it up a level even higher?  Ramp up those neural pathways with praising God. He loves to hear gratitude!

Want it to change your kid?  First, let them hear you being thankful. When something goes well, say how grateful you are to God. When something goes not so well, say out loud that you know God will help you, and you’re thankful for that.

Kids don't just take instructions from us, they imitate us. Let your words be the model for rewiring their brains!
